365 days of action!

Imagine you decided to walk the Camino in Spain. Initially, the journey would seem huge – walking 40 kilometres a day for 40 days in a row!

But break it down day by day, and then hour by hour and soon you come to something that you can confront – I need to walk 4 kilometres in the next hour – you get the idea!

And the same goes for your annual marketing plan. A great marketing plan isn’t one which is beautifully presented with eloquent positioning statements, and well-organised tactics – that sits on a shelf! A great plan is all those things and one other important ingredient – action every day.

If you set yourself goals and objectives in a marketing plan – you’ll soon find out the only way to achieve them is to do something.

If you’ve planned a direct mail campaign, or a blogging schedule, or a TV ad – it only gets done if you do the small actions that all add up to a completed product – the ad showing on TV and being measured for a response.

So the next time you write your marketing plan, get yourself organised to work on it daily and soon enough you’ll be drinking a nice glass of champagne at the end of your marketing journey.

Sometimes you have to be a pilgrim to be a successful marketer.
